When I was thinking about what to do for this assignment I immediately thought of Rochester because I have such a strong connection to it growing up and exploring the city. I also knew that I wanted to focus on documenting the darker side of Rochester; looking specifically at these abandoned spaces and how they are being used today. In Rochester there are a lot of these buildings and spaces because it was an industrial area with lots of factories. Most famously, Rochester is the home of Kodak which at its peek was worldwide business. In 2008, when the recession hit, Kodak took a massive hit (it was already on the decline) and was forced to declare bankruptcy. It has since come out of bankruptcy in 2013 and continues to operate today on a much smaller scale but traces of Kodak's glory days can still be seen all over Rochester. In particular, all the factories that have been abandoned because no one knows how to fill them. Documenting Kodak my photos also show the relations...

Strengths:
ReplyDelete1. The composition is very strong for all of them; every model is clearly relaxed, I love how clearly comfortable they feel.
2. I love your use of various different props, and backgrounds. None of the poses look forced, and everything flows really well when you look at everything together.
Weakness:
1. There's a little bit of repetitive motion, especially with the green umbrella in the printed pictures; maybe taking one out would've been beneficial to the overall composition to add a little variety.
2. Some graininess on the printed images, but ultimately doesn't take away too much from the overall quality.
Strengths:
ReplyDelete1. I love the humor in this body of work. The photos you chose really show the happiness and beauty in each of your models.
2. The colors you incorporated go really well together.
Weakness:
1. I would try to switch up the props used in your photos
2. Some of your photos either aren't entirely in focus or they were printed on the wrong piece of paper
Strengths
ReplyDelete- Really enjoy the theme of the colors and how the models clothing goes with the props and backdrops. the color scheme of the photos was very well done
- the expression and movement the models are doing are very well incorporated
Critiques
-The prints have a slightly grainy look to them
-maybe try some different angles the camera could have been pointing at the subject or having the subject move instead of being directly in front of the camera
